This is MY INNOVATION story

Collaboration can strengthen ideas and innovation.

An Accounts Receivable (AR) role, like mine, handles all finance tasks in the order-to-cash process, like credit control, sending invoices, and ensuring customers pay on time, AR clearing, etc. By automating these tasks, we saw an opportunity to improve efficiency and allow us to dedicate more time improving our Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) and speed up cash flow.

I partnered with Daniel Deng, VSD China Logistics Manager, who has extensive experience with programming, to create a robotic process automation (RPA) for our AR clearing process. This RPA only needs basic information - like receipt amount, date, currency, and invoice details – to process multiple accounts at one time, and even records results and any errors.

Our collaboration required us to learn from each other. A non-Finance guy learning finance and a finance expert learning about programming logic. It wasn’t easy, and it took time and patience. Just like our RPA. It was a process. Failure – modify – retry – failure- modify – retry…until finally, we succeeded!

Collaborating enabled us to innovate, resulting in improved efficiency and data traceability, plus freed up resources for more value-add work.

Our successful collaboration not only enhanced our AR process but also expanded our knowledge base and set a foundation for future innovations.

If you’re looking for the freedom to introduce and develop new ideas, we’d love to hear from you.
