MKS Named a Leader in Agile Development Management Tools

Forrester Research, Inc. has assessed the state of the Agile development management (ADM) tools market, reviewing ALM vendors and Agile project management tools against 152 criteria. MKS achieved the highest scores from Forrester in the 'Process Configuration', 'Security' and 'Running a Project' subcategories of the analysis and received the second highest score for its current offering (scoring 3.92 out of 5.00, just 0.01 points behind the highest-rated offering).

This comes as no surprise to MKS customers making use of our Agile solutions, and Forrester's research points to the continuing increases in Agile adoption as a driving force behind the need to expand the reach and support for Agile methods within ALM.

Particularly for our enterprise customers that must comply with regulation and governance while adopting more Agile methods, the report states that the MKS offering is "...very attractive for industries where compliance and audit are high priorities for developers." The report continues, noting that, "MKS [offers] an Agile, Scrum-like template out of the box, which, coupled with the very flexible and extendable workflow model, would provide strong support for organizations that follow a "Scrum, but..." or hybrid Agile approach."

What Agile Software Vendors are Missing: Forrester

One challenge facing large Agile development shops is keeping track of what individual teams are doing, and allocating developers, testers and other resources across an array of projects.

Jeffrey Hammond, principal analyst with Cambridge, Mass.-based Forrester Research Inc., said he's observed organizations that run multiple concurrent Agile development projects having difficulty applying a management process around all that.

"Teams may have a really good idea what they're working on with their whiteboards and their glass walls with posted notes on it, but it's really hard to bring the CIO down to see that when he asks what's going on," said Hammond.
