Changing Application Development Needs - a TechRepublic Survey, Sponsored by MKS

Few would argue that application development is changing to meet the demands of an increasingly mobile work force, the expanding global enterprise, and the need for real-time access to the latest versions of software. Furthermore, today's developers are required to build applications that not only meet myriad technical and business requirements but they also must meet ever-tighter deadlines imposed through highly compressed development cycles-all without sacrificing quality or functionality.

To explore how the development organization meets these challenges, and to identify the key issues faced by developers, TechRepublic conducted a survey of application developers and IS/IT managers. The study establishes some basic benchmarks for current practices in application development that will help managers pinpoint areas of concern in their own environments and apply corrective action if necessary.
