Gartner has released its "Magic Quadrant for Software Change and Configuration Management for Distributed Platforms, 2009" report. The report evaluates Software Change Management and Software Configuration Management (SCCM) vendors based on completeness of vision and ability to execute.

MKS is positioned in the SCCM Leaders Quadrant. "Leaders in this market are characterized by broad solutions with significant support for ALM deployment."

Software Change and Configuration Management by itself or in broader application lifecycle management (ALM) solutions, helps to structure development change, configuration and release processes. According to Gartner, "SCCM tools are evolving on a path toward integrating tightly with or becoming generalized management platforms for requirements, test plans and other aspects of the application life cycle." The Gartner report states that growth in this market "will be focused on products that incorporate ALM capabilities."

The Magic Quadrant report measures vendors against Gartner defined criteria for the marketplace. It is intended to be one of many information sources used by an organization in its selection of a software change management and configuration management solution.
