Waterloo, ON - October 21, 2002: MKS Inc. (MKS) (TSE:MKX), a leading provider of tools to automate, secure, manage and control the software development process, today announced that The Dixie Group, the eighth largest carpet company in the world, has selected MKS Source Integrity® Enterprise Edition, MKS Integrity Manager™ and Implementer® for its cross-platform, enterprise software configuration management (SCM) needs.

The Dixie Group, headquartered in Chattanooga, Tennessee, (www.thedixiegroup.com) is a leading carpet and rug manufacturer and supplier to higher-end residential and commercial customers serviced by Masland Carpets and Fabrica International, to consumers through major retailers under the Bretlin, Globaltex and Alliance Mills brands and to the factory-built housing and recreational vehicle markets through Carriage Carpets.

The Dixie Group's IT organization required a unified process management and workflow solution for multi-platform change management providing them with better visibility into the progress of change to native OS/400 applications, iSeries based e-business applications, and Windows-based applications. The company also sought an enterprise SCM solution that would aid the company's IT organization in software development project planning, resource allocation and streamline communication and collaboration among development teams.

After an extensive evaluation of all SCM providers in the iSeries and Windows/NT markets, The Dixie Group selected MKS's enterprise software configuration management solution for its strong process and workflow and cross-platform management capabilities. MKS's solution will be deployed to developers for management and development of the company's iSeries and Windows applications.

"We needed a cross-platform SCM solution that would improve our way of managing change without losing our focus on quality," says Tony Pack, DBA at The Dixie Group. "MKS held a unique position of providing us with a common software management solution that spanned all our development platforms."
