Santa Barabara, CA — January 29, 2008: CMC Media Inc., publisher of the Configuration Management Journal and the Agile Journal, today announced the launch of the Requirements Management Zone (RM Zone™) in partnership with MKS Inc. (MKS) (TSX: MKX). The new RM Zone is a microsite within the CM Crossroads online developer community that provides a consolidation of resources and information about software requirements definition, requirements management, and requirements reuse.

Requirements may be the most critical aspect of the software development lifecycle. If software requirements are wrong, or not clearly communicated, the resulting product will ultimately be flawed. Until now, there has not been a dedicated online resource for application lifecycle management (ALM) practitioners to research requirements management issues. The new RM Zone is designed to bring forth the challenges that analyst, development, and testing teams are facing today and help community members in their quest to deliver software applications that meet the needs of their businesses. Using the knowledge of industry experts, the RM Zone is a valuable resource bringing together articles, research, tools, events, and other information that community members can leverage to improve their requirements management practices.

One key section of the Requirements Management Zone is "the RM ThinkTank," a dedicated discussion forum where people can chat with other users facing similar challenges from how to write good requirements, to managing requirements change to requirements reuse.

According to Patrick Egan, Publisher for CMC Media and CM Crossroads, "The Requirements Management Zone will help empower our members who play multiple roles in their organization as both configuration manager, quality manager, or release manager and the person responsible for defining or managing the requirements of their product. CM Crossroads provides the perfect home for the RM Zone as its member community is composed of a broad scope of individuals from many industries whose common link is a concern for the production of quality software."

"RM Zone focuses critical attention on RM challenges facing development organizations. Done correctly, requirements management and reuse can be the foundation for agility and IT/business alignment. Done poorly and it’s at the root of software project failure," says David Martin, Vice President of Product Management, MKS Inc.

The Requirements Management Zone is online now with RSS feeds syndicated by FeedBurner.
