Waterloo, ON - June 3, 2002: MKS Inc. (MKS) (TSE:MKX), a leading provider of tools to manage and control the software development process, today announced its ADM to MKS QuickStart Program to provide IBM Application Development Manager (ADM) customers an alternative solution for software configuration management (SCM) on the IBM eServer iSeries. MKS is making this offer available in conjunction with IBM's plans to withdraw ADM from marketing.

MKS provides workflow-enabled, multi-platform SCM and deployment solutions that include:

  • Implementer®, the Company's premier SCM and deployment offering for the iSeries platform;
  • MKS Integrity Manager™, for cross-platform process management and workflow; and
  • MKS Source Integrity® Enterprise Edition, an SCM solution for Java and WebSphere development.

The solution is seamlessly integrated with IBM WebSphere Studio Workbench and other Java development environments as well as with the Integrated File System (IFS), enabling organizations to use one integrated change management solution for all their iSeries needs. The advantages are tighter technical integration, enterprise scalable process management and workflow, plus lower support and administrative costs.

"Hundreds of companies from the Fortune and Global 1000 rely on Implementer for change management of mission-critical and business-critical applications. MKS offers a proven and highly reliable choice for software change management in the iSeries market," says iSeries product manager at MKS, Marty Acks. "What sets our solution apart from all others, however, is in our ability to plug iSeries development into the rest of the enterprise. Customers selecting MKS have the advantage of working with a single vendor that provides support for both native as well as Web-enabled development on the iSeries. We have over a decade of experience managing development not just on the iSeries, but a variety of other platforms and development environments. This puts us in a unique position to understand the new challenges facing iSeries development organizations. In early June we will officially announce the next stage of our support for IBM's eclipse-based technology with intent to provide an additional integration into IBM's new WebSphere Studio offering for the iSeries platform."

"MKS has always been a strong supporter of IBM's efforts to move iSeries developers to a more sophisticated e-business development environment," says Dave Slater, World-wide Market Manager iSeries Application Development at IBM. "They were the first iSeries SCM vendor to integrate their tools with the Eclipse workbench. They shipped a plug-in for WebSphere Studio Application Developer on March 6, 2002 to provide integrated SCM support. As a proof point of IBM's integration strategy, MKS installed this same plug-in to the beta-test version of iSeries Eclipse workbench and everything just worked. MKS is providing ADM customers with the products and services needed, to assist them in meeting their e-business development goals."

MKS is offering IBM ADM customers seeking to migrate to Implementer a special discount incentive and a migration package offered by MKS's professional services team. For companies seeking to expand their change management beyond traditional iSeries development, MKS is also extending this special discount offer to its MKS Integrity Manager and MKS Source Integrity Enterprise tools.
