Waterloo, ON — September 27, 2004: MKS Inc. (TSX: MKX), a leading provider of enterprise software configuration management (ESCM) solutions for the Global 1000, today announced an integration between MKS Integrity Manager®, MKS's process and workflow solution, and Telelogic DOORS®, a leading requirements management tool.

This powerful integration enables the seamless import of DOORS-generated requirements into MKS Integrity Manager, connecting all requirements defined in DOORS directly to development tasks and related artifacts in MKS Integrity Manager, including source code, documentation, test cases and plans. The relationship between Doors Module objects and MKS Integrity Manager issues is linked and kept in sync regardless of changes in either tool.

Understanding the impact of change, and then effectively managing it, is critical for the successful delivery of software applications. By integrating a set of well-defined requirements with the downstream development processes managed by MKS Integrity Manager, an organization is ensured of delivering software that meets the needs of the business, on time and on budget.

Business analysts can easily determine the impact of a proposed change by reviewing the status of all work in progress to implement the requirement. As changes are approved, the affected work is flagged as "suspect." Once all suspect activities are reviewed and appropriately addressed, Development and Quality Assurance Managers can be certain their teams have implemented and tested the latest set of approved requirements.

"The real value in automating and optimizing requirements-driven development through integration between DOORS and MKS Integrity Manager is that it significantly increases efficiency between requirements engineers, project designers and developers, QA teams and documentation teams, promoting heightened visibility of all requirements and development activities, reducing scope creep and aiding IT organizations in passing rigorous process audits of IT controls," says David Martin, MKS vice president, Product Management.
